Hello from VA

Kato and I have to report how much we don't like the humidity of Virginia, but we agree that it is absolutely beautiful here. It's been 7 weeks and 1 day since we loaded up our cars and pulled out of our Sacramento driveway and honestly I thought I'd be way more homesick. The only reason I've kept busy and happy is because I've found a support system with other Marine wives my age that share my love for dogs, wine and Harry Potter (the trifecta). Keeping in contact with my best friends and hearing from (some) of my family has been really nice too, and it really shows how distance strengthens bonds. Honestly, I wish we would be stationed here longer, but we will for sure try to explore and take advantage of living here while we are! More pictures and stories to come.

Saturday note #7

Lately I've been reading/writing a lot more poetry than normal. I am far from ready to share anything from me, but I am so down to share some of my finds. Below is one by E.E. Cummings. I gravitate towards happier poems and poems that use words in such a beautiful way.

Saying see you later

It's one thing to pack up all of your belongings, travel cross country, and settle down in a brand new place...and it's another to do all these things and also be leaving all the people and places that mean the most to you. It was difficult, but it really wasn't until the night before we left that it actually hit me. If you're ever in the same position, remember that it's temporary and while there are people that love you and care about you, you are never alone. ❤️

A little trip to the east

Currently writing this from a hotel room in Des Moines, Iowa. More on our cross country trip later!
Hello! Today I wanted to share some pictures from a quick trip we took to North Carolina over Easter weekend. We stayed in an adorable beach house with Chreston's family, and it was really great to get to spend uninterrupted time with family members that we don't usually get to see. Here are a couple pics I snapped from my phone. I've decided I need to start taking more pictures with my actual camera. Darn you iPhone and your limited storage capabilities! *shakes fist* Anyway, the reason for the get-together was to attend Chreston's brother Barrett's wedding. Their wedding was so cute and intimate, and we are so happy for them!
***Not pictured below were the cute shops we visited in Downtown Wilmington. (Again, darn iPhone and its' storage).

Life: an update

Where to begin?
Chreston and I are moving soon. REALLY soon. This cross-country trek has been long-awaited yet it's so daunting. This will be our first official military move and it definitely won't be our last. We've been in limbo for almost a year, and it's exciting to finally have a timeline. Chreston's career is getting started and I will be un-pausing mine. (More of that to come).

Here are some pictures of life lately. Including Kato (our furbaby), my sister Norma's wedding festivities, the holidays, my sister Mari's baby shower, and other daily shenanigans.
